Description | Geological sketching is a crucial skill for any geoscientist. This course will give candidates the tools they need to create great geological sketches for their future careers/projects. The first day (indoors) will teach the principles of basic sketching: scale, colour, stroke technique (pencil and crayons) and drawing simple features and objects. This will then be put into a geological context: geological observations/details, structural geology, log sections, fossils and hand specimens. Subsequently over the next two (outdoor) days the students will put all that they learned into practice in the field, having the opportunity to ask the experts for advice. Taking advantage of the spectacular geology of the Alps and the Jura, the course will take advantage of the geology over a variety of scales and features. |
