| Title | Paleoreconstructions from Corals and Lessons from Related Scientific Fields |
| Dates | 1-2 mars 2023 |
| Responsible | Thomas Sheldrake |
| Organizer(s) | Dr. Sebastian Flöter, UNIGE |
| Speakers | Prof. Thomas Felis, University of Bremen, Germany; Dr. Nikita Kaushal, ETHZ, Switzerland; Dr. Sébastien Guillet, UNIGE, Switzerland; Dr. Claire Rollion-Bard, IPSL, Gif-sur-Yvette, France; |
| Description | The theme of this two-day course is coral palaeoreconstruction and the lessons that can be learned from related scientific fields. On the first day, Dr. Thomas Felis and Dr. Claire Rollion-Bard, both experts in the field of coral biomineralization, will give an overview of coral geochemistry and examples of paleoreconstructions. Dr. Nikita Kaushal and Dr. Sébastien Guillet will give a lecture on speleothems and dendroecology respectively. The combination of these research areas should stimulate a discussion following the lectures on methods and concepts currently applied to coral paleoceanographic research and potentially new research ideas. |
